A Better Rum!

Anyone who knows me knows I stick to Bourbons and other Whiskeys- my first choice is always a Jack Daniels product. Thanks to the frugal Rum wanderings of my brother, who some say has never met a bottle of rum that could beat him, I have been introduced to the best mixing rum on the market. Isla De Rico Silver Rum. They have other flavors such as spiced and coconut if that's the sort of thing your into. You can't seem to find it everywhere which is a shame since it has a price tag of half a JD Black Label bottle. I was able to find it on the shelves of the local supermarket's liquor store. A 1.75 L bottle goes for about $19.00.

Anyone who has had a Bacardi and coke knows there is a heavy after taste from the Bacardi. Isla De Rico has no aftertaste...ZERO.  It is a real pleasure to drink. When I saw the price, and a name I hadn't heard of before, I figured oh here is one of those cheapo, gasoline type rums...but alas I love this stuff.

It is a Barbados rum

and anyone who has been to the island and had their native rums will remember the familiar clean taste. It is a neutral, vodka like mixing rum. A great summertime, or anytime drink is to mix a heavy pour with ice and Sunkist orange soda but be careful before you know it you and your friends will end up finishing that 1.75L bottle which doesn't make you bad people....just makes you have to go out and buy more!
